Joanne Cedeno, MHC-LP MS Ed.

Joanne is a Mental Health Counselor with a Limited Permit in the state of New York. She graduated from Alfred University and earned her Master of Science in Education in Counseling with an  Advance Certificate in Mental Health Counseling. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.


Joanne is passionate about supporting young people and adults in navigating the far-reaching
effects of trauma. She believes that one of the most powerful tools in the healing process is
having the knowledge and language to understand both the implicit and explicit effects of trauma
on physical and psychological development. Her approach is culturally-responsive, highly
empathetic and empowering with the goal of building a strong therapeutic alliance with clients.
She employs a compassionate, strengths-based approach to building self-esteem and establishing
concrete coping skills to assist clients in promoting resilience, life-enhancing outcomes and
psychological well-being.


Joanne has experience working with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, interpersonal
relationships, life transitions and trauma-related concerns across the lifespan utilizing an eclectic
approach that includes, but is not limited to, mindfulness-based cognitive behavior therapy, CBT,
DBT and Internal Family Systems. She is bilingual. She speaks English and Spanish.
